December 2022
As we move into the Christmas holidays, the unseasonably mild November weather made for pleasant garden ‘pottering’ and tidying up. However, it has created great confusion amongst the plant kingdom. As the BBC news website reports, the average temperature for November month has been 2.2 C above the seasonal average. Trees and hedges, responding to the mild weather have in some cases shed their leaves but in our beech woodlands many trees are still supporting a surprisingly attractive yellow and green canopy.
Here is the weblink to the BBC News article https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-63754070 and below photographs of some of the plants still flowering in our garden in Monks Risborough on 24 November this year. Not as numerous as in June, but nevertheless welcome cheer.
